First time home buyers can now purchase homes in St.Tammany Parish for only 1% of the purchase price amount or $1,000.  Which ever is greater.  Example: Buy a $90,000 home and you only need $900 for your down payment.  This program is call a soft second.  Buyers can recieve up to $30,000 for a down payment and $5,000 in closing cost.

The St. Tammany Parish Soft Second Program provides down payment and
closing costs subsidies to eligible rst-time homebuyers. The subsidies can
help bridge the aordability gap between the price of the home (including
closing costs) and the maximum amount a homebuyer can borrow with a
first mortgage loan.

To Qualify Borrower Must:

• Complete a simple homebuyer training course.
• Must befirst time home buyer or those who have not owned in 3 years.
• Maximum purchase price is $200,000 for qualified buyers.
• Property must be located in St. Tammany Parish.
• Borrower must close home within 90 days of applying.
• Minimum required is 1% of the purchase price or $1,000, whichever is greater.
