That is an excellent question! But I have my own question. Can we get a drink?!
This life is certainly full of things that make no sense. Absolutely. None. But here are some tips.
TOP 4 TIPS TO GETTING IN THE SELLERS DOOR
1. Make your intentions clear. Communicate. Again -- clearly. As far as scheduling houses for sale is concerned, you will have the best luck when you plan ahead. At least a day in advance, make the seller aware you are interested in showing and get their instructions and follow them. And I don't mean when you show up. Parked. In their driveway.
2. Do what you say. Say what you mean. Show up on time. Don't allow yourself to get off schedule. Even if the last seller tried to sell you everything and their cow. Kindly walk away from one seller so you can make it to the next seller. On time. Before she puts the 11 kids to bed. After their hundred questions.
3. If you do get off schedule, and you probably will, be kind about it. If the seller already left the house for your one hour scheduled appointment and you are running late, don't get upset when their house is now unavailable. Or accuse them of being a demotivated seller. I'll tell you what demotivated her.
4. This is my favorite. Be flexible. Most houses are shown by appointment only, but through an appointment service available pretty much all the time during daylight hours. If the seller said no, simply calling and getting another day or time usually works. So maybe being flexible is the last tip I have for getting in the door.
Or you can put your socks on your hands, your gloves on your feet and drive backwards all the way there and see if they will let you in through a window! That might be fun! But they may ask you a few questions...
