Quick tip of the day - are you listed on your local online papers?
Debbie shares important information, which I didn't know anything about.
She learned this on ActiveRain, and it's a great way to get listed in the right online directories. I have learned out to stay at the at the top of Google, now I've learned something new today from Debbie's post.
Check this out if you missed it.
The industry changes rapidly, and keeping constantly updated will assure staying at the top of game,
Yesterday, I had an appointment and when I asked the customer where he found me, he said lohud.com. (Lohud.com is the online version of one of our local newspapers).
I was stunned. I had no idea how that happened. I had never added my info in there. So, of course, when I got home, I checkedout the site. There is a yellow pages section in there and you can search for lots of local things. This was "powered by planet discover" something I vaguely remember entering our info into...most likely triggered by something I read on Active Rain.
I then noticed that you can rate companies, and of course none of my competitors have any ratings, so if we get some, we will standout. So, I shot an email to one of my past customers who is also a friend and asked if she would review us. I may do another couple as well...but right now my priority is doing laundry, packing and finishing everything up before I go away.
So, I've added this onto my monthly project list to either do for Jan or Feb - make sure I get a couple of more reviews and check to see about the other local papers and make sure I'm listed.
In addition to the fact that some local people can find you, most of these places allow you to have a link back to your site, so this can also improve your SEO. So, check out your local papers online and see if you are listed; if not, add yourself (It should only take a few minutes) and if they allow reviews, ask some people to give you some. (this year we are going to focus even more on getting online review as they seem to be having a bigger impact and starting to generate more leads...even this weekend, I got another lead from yelp).
