While reading through the ActiveRain Community Guidelines several thoughts kept popping into my head. My initial thought was “Is this really a problem?”. Seriously, we are all adults here, right? Don’t we know how to behave and treat each other fairly and with respect? Obviously not. Rules had to be established, written down and published. But even that wasn’t enough. It was also made mandatory that, as a new member, you read the rules.
My next thought was “wow, this is pretty basic”. Reading through the guidelines I didn’t see anything that jumped out at me as unusual or asking too much. Again, I’m thinking we are adults, we should know this.
Last but not least I thought to myself “this sounds a lot like the Golden Rule”. When I was a young teenager and fretting about some major issue in my life, I will never forget my grandmother saying to me “You have the answer honey: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. That 
made the problem sound so simple. I just had to stop and think how I would want to be treated if I were on the other side of the issue.
Reading the Community Guidelines reminded me of a poem written by Robert Fulghum entitled “All I Really Needed To Know I Learned In Kindergarten”. The simple things such as play fair, clean up your own mess, wash your hands and don't forget to flush. One of my favorites is “When you go out into the world, watch for traffic, hold hands and stick together’. That was important when you were in kindergarten and it’s important today. Just think what a wonderful world this would be if we looked out for one another, held hands and stuck together.
So, there you have it.
Treat others like you’d like to be treated.
Be respectful.
Don’t forget to flush.
