Although stock futures painted a rosy picture this morning, stocks spent most of their day in the red. Verizon, Travelers and Johnson and Johnson collectively pulled the Dow Jones average down today despite showing better than expected earning. Dow stocks were down as many as 90 points today before closing down only 44 points. The S&P and the NASDAQ managed moderate gains.
