How to set up Google Authorship for your Real Estate Website

If you would like your photo appear next to your site in google search results you should definitely set up Google Authorship for your Real Estate website.

It will take just a few minutes to learn how to set up Google Authorship for your Real Estate Website.  This will help your website to rank on google, maximize exposure for your listings, and drive consumers to your Real Estate website.

Sign in to Google Plus

If you do not have a Google Plus profile set up, you can do so at plus.google.com in a few minutes.  Be sure to add a profile picture of your face and not a logo to your profile.  Once you have signed in, click on the About tab of your profile.

Scroll down to the contributor to section and click Edit.  This section can be found between the Other Profiles and the Links sections.

Add your Real Estate Website to the Contributor to section

When you click Edit, a menu will pop open and you can click Add Custom Link.  Your screen should look like this:

Type the name of your website into the Label section and your full website address example http://www.homefindersoftexas.com into the URL section.  Make sure the dropdown menu to the right says Current Contributor and press Save.

Review your About section of your Google Plus profile.

Your website should now appear on your Google Plus profile page.

Add a link to your Google Plus profile on your Real Estate Website

This can be done by editing your website.  I use Business Suite by Market Leader to host and edit my website.  If you are interested in learning more about this system, feel free to email me!

2. Click on the Website Tab

3. Click on Main Text in the Left Column to edit the main page of your site.

5. Link to your Google Plus profile by clicking on the Link icon in the editor.

6. Click the Save button.

  1. Create a link to your Google+ profile from your webpage, like this:
      Google

Replace [profile_url] with the your Google+ profile URL, like this:

      Google

Your link must contain the ?rel=author parameter. If it's missing, Google won't be able to associate your content with your Google+ profile.

  2. Add a reciprocal link back from your profile to the site(s) you just updated.
    1. Edit the Contributor To section.
    2. In the dialog that appears, click Add custom link, and then enter the website URL.

Great post Katrina! There are many moving pieces with Social Media that all tie together. Google+ is a great place to start since it is a major hub for search. Thanks!

Katrina,  I don't know why I put this off for such a long time, I found your link and realized I had already signed up on Google Plue, loaded my photo and added the custom link,  I haven't checked on the search engine to see if the photo is there, but with your precise instructions made it easy, almost too easy where I could have thought I completed the procedure and maybe didn't.

I looked at Market Leader for a while, and ended up with Real Geeks, like many of the features, would like to have the best of both worlds.     I am not sure exactly what the second part of your instructions were since it pertained to your Market Leader site.

Thank you for your post...

I couldn't figure out how to do the last steps very confused.

6. Click the Save button. I did this.  The rest of this didn't make any sense to me.

    3. If you want, click the drop-down list to specify who can see the link.
    4. Click Save.
