Ask an Ambassador - Comments - What should and shouldn't I say?
Over the years there has been a lot of conversation about comments on ActiveRain. If newbies don't read the guidelines before they start commenting or posting they may make a few mistakes such as leaving links in their comment or simply saying 'Good Post". If you're wondering why you shouldn't leave links in a comments here's why - it's not your post - it's the authors post and you must get permission from the author to do so. I know it may be different on other platforms but that's the rule here on ActiveRain. As for simply logging in and leaving ten "Good Post" comments - Do I really need to say how lame that is. No I don't. But I will - stop it - it's lame on so many levels!

The type of comment that doesn't happen often but when it does - makes my skin crawl. I know most of you can't imagine me getting all nuts about small stuff, and I don't. There is just this one small yet big comment mistake that I see on occasion and it baffles me.
People that leave negative comments about what the author is promoting
about their particular area, a local event or even worse a local partner
Why would you do that to the author? I don't get it. Why would you pull positive steam away from the author and their local subject? It's not like they're asking for your personal feelings about the subject, business partner or area. And if they are it's an entirely different type of post and then say what you want, with a respective stance. The localism post authors are simply promoting their area, an event or a business partner. They're writing to promote their area! If you can't say something positive on localism posts just don't say anything. I'm sure you don't want somebody else leaving negative comments on your localism posts. And if you do you might want to re-think that strategy.....just saying.
Enough said - now let's get back to leaving more comments!
