Hoku Whole Foods is a Natural Food Store located on Lehua Street in Kapaa, Kauai. It is located just a few blocks from my office Kauai Dreams Realty and I go there almost every day. Really almost every day that I'm working. After all they sell organic dark chocolate bars. I don't/can't drink coffee, so the dark chocolate is my caffeine boost.
Hoku Whole Foods is a very successful business. They cater to a health conscious clientele. There's a lot of us on Kauai. But I believe what makes Hoku Whole Foods so successful is their sincerity in their business and products. Hoku does not just stock their shelves with items that are marked "health" "low-fat" "natural" but they research and only order those foods that meet their standards. Because their current location is not in an expensive shopping center or highway location they are able to keep their prices fairly reasonable.
Hoku Whole Foods is so successful that sometimes their produce coolers are bare. The off island or "mainland" produce usually comes in late Friday and is on the shelf by mid day Saturday and sold out by Tuesday. Local island produce of lettuce, greens, bananas, rabutan can come in any day.
If you move to Kauai you will definitely want to shop at Hoku Whole Foods in Kapaa. If you are thinking of moving to Kauai give me a call.
