150th Civil War Anniversary comes to Franklin Tennessee
The Battle of Franklin took place on November 30, 1864. It was one of the bloodiest battles fought in the Civil War. There were over 10,000 casualties during this battle which took place on and near the Carter House and the Lotz House.
The Carnton Plantation was used as a field hospital and many of the dead are buried in the cemetery there.
The city of Franklin is gearing up for a larger than usual number of visitors this fall. There will be special events throughout the month of November, including music, battle re-enactments, living history tours and exhibits.
Between now and the fall there will be much going on as far as clean up in Franklin in preparation for these events.
The state of Tennessee and Nashville will also be having events. It's the 150th anniversary of many important battles that took place in our state.
The Battle of Franklin was fought 5 months before the end of the war in the Spring of 1865.
