There is nothing like a handwritten letter, don’t you agree? Even though
handwriting skills continue to be an important form of communication, personal handwritten notes grow rarer by the day because of technology.
National Handwriting Day was established in 1977 by the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association in 1977 to promote the consumption of pens, pencils, and writing paper.
January 23rd was chosen because this is the birthday of John Hancock. John Hancock was the first person to sign the Declaration of Independence.
There are so many options available for us to communicate, direct mail campaigns, e-cards, but often I go back to the basics because sometimes words on a screen feel “cold.”
Why? I feel the recipient generally feels the personal touch my handwritten card or note delivers. There is nothing like the personal touch to keep business connections alive. Doing this shows that you care about that person and caring for the other person helps builds a stronger relationship. It does not hurt to communicate this way with family or friends either. People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.
How about you? Practice your handwriting skills, send someone special or someone you’ve overlooked recently a handwritten note -- see what happens.
