Los Angeles 411: AMC Fallbrook Movie Theatre, West Hills

Nestled in a shopping center in the West San Fernando Valley, we find the AMC Fallbrook 7 Movie Theatre, which was renovated in early 2013.

If you and your Saturday night date want to stop in to see your favorite movie, be sure to have your AMC Stubs card with you for an upgrade on popcorn and a drink.

Wednesday afternoons, between two and five, is Senior Discount Day, when our more mature San Fernando Valley residents can enjoy a $4 admission and help themselves to a combination large popcorn and large drink, also for $4.

Since the AMC Fallbrook 7 is a favorite hang-out for West San Fernando Valley movie-goers, many of us were taken aback when we went there for our weekly dose of the latest, popular attraction in February or March of 2013. What we found was that the theatre was shut down for renovations!

A few months later, though, our disappointment turned to amazement and excitement when we went to the AMC Fallbrook 7 and saw the Grand Opening sign.  Upon selecting a movie, we were asked where we would like to sit, and tickets were printed out with our Row and Seat numbers. This was reminiscent of the seating arrangements at a concert or on an airline flight.

But none of us were prepared for what we saw next when we walked into the newly renovated theatre.  The small, hard seats that were all on one level, making it difficult to see the screen, had all been replaced with beautiful, brown leather reclining chairs that had cup holders on each of the arms.  In the row next to the back row, there were two empty spaces, which constituted the handicap section and were perfect for wheel chair placement.

As the theatre filled up, we noticed that there were no heads                                    inthe way of the very large movie screen that was positioned at a height in which the entire screen could be seen from any seat in the theatre.  When the lights dimmed, we enjoyed many previews of coming attractions, as we experimented with adjusting our recliners to various positions of comfort.  We settled into the recliners with our $4 combination popcorn and drink just in time for the main attraction to begin.

I must say, the AMC Fallbrook completely changed my movie-going experience from one of simply going to see a movie to one of going to see a movie and being pampered.  So, if you happen to be visiting the West San Fernando Valley, California, be sure to visit the AMC Fallbrook 7, located at 6731 Fallbrook Ave, West Hills, CA 91307.   Many movies start as early as 10:00am and run till midnight, so there is plenty of time throughout the day and night to catch that movie you have been waiting to see. You can buy tickets in advance by calling (818) 340-8810 or go online to www.amctheatres.com/movie-theatres/amc-fallbrook-7.  After the movie, enjoy a great shopping experience at stores like Trader Joe's, Sports Valet, or Old Navy, or stop into Menchies, next door to the theatre, for a cold creamy frozen yogurt treat!

Hi Ralph -- it's amazing to see some of the innovations taking place in movie theaters being renovated throughout our area.  This was an old Laemmle location, right?
