While Frisco was voted best place to raise an athlete, it is also filled with art. You can find many public works of art. This is not due to being lucky but was designed into the city on purpose. Back in 2002 the City Council established the Frisco Public Art program by creating an ordinance called "Percent for Art." This is where a percentage of Capital Project Funds are used to commission public art. Frisco took it a step further and to this ordinance added the call for the development of a Public Art Master Plan.

City Council With a Purpose

The City Council also appointed a Public Art Committee to oversee the development of this plan. Frisco Texas residents and visitors can enjoy a beautiful sculpture garden, interpretations of cattle drives from the Shawnee Trail days, Hall Office Park filled with outdoor sculptures and additional art filled with old west history. The City of Frisco Public Art Program has a mission. They are in charge of promoting cultural, aesthetic, and economic vitality in Frisco, Texas. They are to do this by integrating artwork of various  and numerous artists into public places, civic infrastructure and private development.

Museums and Venues

The most recent addition to the Frisco Art scene would be the Museum of the American Railroad. This museum was relocated from the Dallas Fair Park. Watching these huge railroad cars being moved into position was an art all in itself. This is still going through construction, the exhibits, educational programs and store are open.

In addition to this museum, Frisco has The Heritage Museum. This is where the history of Frisco is preserved through the collection and preservation artifacts and objects that tell stories of life in a western railroad town. This is an interactive museum that will allow visitors to better understand the lives of Frisco's early residents.

In addition too these two museums Frisco is home to the Frisco Discovery Center, Texas Sculpture Garden and International Art, Bronze Cattle Drive Depictions, Central Park, Public art and the Frisco Community Arts. To learn more about the arts venues in Frisco, you can go to www.friscoarts.org.
