Be a Good Student when Buying your

First Will County or Chicagoland Home

         https://1609956119.secure-loancenter.com/FreeConsult.aspx

If you're buying your first home in Will County or elsewhere in the Chicagoland area, you've probably been given many tidbits of advice (asked for and unsolicited) as to how you should approach buying your first home.  You've also probably been recited the "do's and don'ts" of buying a home or heard how important "this and that" aspect of the process is.

Advice on this topic is not particularly hard to find.  I've written quite a few posts on this subject myself.  Those that have already navigated their Home Buying process are typically pretty willing to regale you with recollections about their transactions and the speedbumps they encountered during it.

As a Mortgage Lender, I'm not going to try to tell you that issues don't arise.  Or the current Home Buying or Mortgage financing transaction doesn't come with challenges.  They do. And it does.  But I am going to tell you that many of those issues and challenges can be lessened or avoided ... and that I can help you accomplish that.

How?  You need to approach your Home Buying and Mortgage financing process just as you did as a student in school seeking an A+ on an assignment ...

  • Prepare yourself thoroughly
  • Ask questions
  • Seek answers
  • Do the Research needed
  • Be organized
  • Take notes
  • Pay attention to detail and accuracy
  • Expect to do some revisions
  • Follow directions
  • Turn your work in on time

You can avoid many of the causes of the drama, the stress, time delays, and challenges you might have heard about when you approach your transaction with this mindset.  Remember, they call it the Home Buying and Mortgage financing process for a reason.

So prepare yourself mentally to enter your Will County and Chicagoland Home Buying and Mortgage financing transaction.  Be prepared to roll-up your sleeves and do some work in a timely, efficient manner.  I promise to do the same as your Mortgage Lender.  Together we'll celebrate your successful Home Closing much more quickly and smoothly ...

Hi Gene - That is excellent advice and a great analogy for the home loan process, especially the part about turning your homework in on time.

Gene, This is great advice.  I have the same approach with my buyer clients. When we tour, I give them a clip board with the MLS printouts. They write notes, ask questions and we learn and compare as we go. I have yet to see any other agents or buyers do this. The educated approach is the best approach to the home buying process. That of course, includes the lending too!

With the changes yet again in the mortgage industry, "students" need to approach this diligently and determinedly.  Plus I know you to be an excellent "professor" - I'll bet all your students get A++.

Robert:  Navigation is much easier when you have a good Captain steering the ship ...

Sharon:  There are many more steps ... but with sound guidance and advice, the steps get much easier ..

Kathleen:  What a great system and help you are providing to your clients.  I applaud your application of this in helping your clients!

Margaret:  You are absolutely right.  Clients, esp. those that are 1st-timers, need to pay attention and listen closely.  Those that do find the process much easier, more enjoyable, and successful too ...

Great list, indeed.  And here in CA where housing costs are high, I would stress (for most) "Be prepared to adjust your expectations."  It's not that you can't buy, it's just that you may have to do some revisions to your plans, as you so correctly point out.

Having the capacity and mindset for flexibility sure makes the process much easier, Rob .. no doubt about it.  Great addition and comment!
