Sometimes it's just fun to observe what beauty that exists around us. Yesterday, my dog Nathan and I walked around Fountain Lake, which is located in Byrd Park and near my Richmond Virginia home. It was a good day for both of us to get a little exercise and observe the colors of the birds and sky.
Other people also were outside walking. Although it probably was still in the upper 30's, the temperature was around 20 degrees warmer than it had been just a couple days earlier. It was a welcome relief for me not having to wear leather gloves again while outside!
Plus it was interesting to see how seagulls and ducks interacted. It looked like some of the birds took advantage of the nicer weather to do some practice flights. It also looked like several of the younger birds were getting some flight lessons from their elders. I'm sure the birds also were happy to have some warmer temperatures to enjoy for a while!
Various birds congregated at the center of Fountain Lake where the ice has melted.
Another view of Fountain Lake above shows the thawed section where birds gathered.
A third view of Fountain Lake also shows the variety of colors present with blue sky.
Nathan enjoys walking around Fountain Lake and seeing people along with other dogs.
