Picture the past. Being an Arizona Native, the history of Arizona and all of its small towns is fascinating to me. Unfortunately many of these small towns are now considered Ghost Towns and have no one to tell of their history or take care of them. Therefore, they fall to hands of vandalism, looting and decay. Through one man’s eyes, their beauty and story has been captured.
“Ghost Towns of Arizona: Photography of Kurt Wenner” exhibit is being displayed at the Pueblo Grande Museum through
August 30, 2014. Here you can experience this history of some of these Ghost Towns through his pictures. The Pueblo Grande Museum is located at 4619 E Washing Street Phoenix AZ 85034. Hours of operation at 9:00 to 4:30 and admission to the museum is $6.00 (Seniors are $5.00 and Children $3.00).
If you have never visited the Pueblo Grande Museum, it is full of history and is located on a 1,500 year old archeological site left by the Hohokam culture. It is a National Historic Landmark and is the largest preserved archaeological site within Phoenix. There are three galleries to visit including a children’s hands-on gallery with activities to help kids learn about the science of archaeology. There is also a museum store for authentic gifts.
Picture the past of Arizona at this event. It is a great time for family and friends.
