What is Ruff Range? Happy Tails in Frisco Texas

OK hopefully y'all know that this is referring to a dog park. Yes Frisco Texas is dog friendly. While they may not have their own dog fountains they do have their own dog park. They even separate the big boys and girls from the littler ones. Now dog parks have a great place in any community and Frisco is no exception. Ruff Range Dog Park is the name of our park where we can bring man's best friend and let them socialize while we also get to meet with our neighbors. We all know we have at least one thing in common.

Dog Park Pros and Cons

A dog park has many advantages. The first one is that you should never bring them in on a leash. There is typically a "man trap entrance." This is where there are back to back gates creating a small place where you can attach and detach your dog's leash. You see there is something called leash rage. This often refers to dogs who get aggressive when on a leash. However it also can occur when there is a group of dogs off leash and one dog still on a leash. When dogs become aggressive it is critical that the owners separate them and if one or more particular dogs remain aggressive they need to leave the park.

Another advantage is your dog(s) get to socialize with other dogs and start to enjoy the social pack. Dogs are very social animals and this is a great place to make that happen. The other side to this is that it is important that everyone maintain up to date shots and healthy animals as the socialization can also lead to the spread of diseases. One of the funnest things to do at the dog parks is to just watch the animals at play. Whether you are in with the big dogs or the ankle biters, it is great to see them play together.

Enjoying a Spring Day

A nice spring Saturday morning, heading out with a cup of coffee and our pups my wife and I enjoy letting our dogs run wild. Sounds nice but rarely works that way. Our dogs prefer people to other dogs for the most part. We tell them to go play and they look at us like we are nuts. You know the look when they lean there head forward with a slight tilt to the side. After our coffee we go to different sides of the park and call the dogs in order to get them running at least back and forth while the other dogs are running around in small packs chasing each other.

Now I am wondering who has who trained. We have to split up to get them to run. We pick up after them (literally.) They sit in the back while we drive like chauffeurs. We carry a water container. Hey wait a second, maybe a dog park isn't such a great thing. I better go have a talk with my dogs and see if I can straighten them out (like that would ever happen.) I look forward to seeing you at Ruff Range.

Good morning Jeff. Thanks for sharing the photos, very cute. In the rural part of the state when we live, there not no need for doggy parks.
