You Might Miss Out with New Gmail Tabs

As you might have heard or seen by now, Gmail has rolled out new tabs for your email. There are now Primary, Social and Promotions tabs. The idea is to help you keep your emails organized.

There have been a number of 'Rainers that are no longer seeing their ActiveRain Daily Drop or weekly emails in their Primary folder. There is a chance that Gmail has moved the ActiveRain emails into the Social or Promtions folders, where you might not look everyday.

Never miss a beat by moving ActiveRain emails to your Primary tab. We have included screenshots below on how to do this and make sure you completed correctly.

Step 1:

Locate an email from ActiveRain. You can scroll through your Social and Promotions tabs or type newsletter@activerain.com in the search bar above your inbox folders.

Step 2:

Once you have found an ActiveRain email, click on the email (either the "ActiveRain" or the subject line), hold and drag it to the Primary tab.

Step 3:

Once you release your mouse a confirmation box should appear that asks "Do this for future messages from newsletter@activerain.com?" Make sure you click "Yes" for this to send future ActiveRain Daily Drop and weekly emails to your Primary tab.

Step 4:

The final step takes no action. A final confirmation box will appear letting you know that you are done!

I check all three tabs and the Spam box to make sure that I don't miss anything I am looking for. I have update emails from my bank that go into my Spam folder. I have moved one or two senders into my primary tab but not most senders.

Sounds logical Gerard. Computers are good but still make errors. Thanks :)

Use these all the time, set mine up as primary, social, promotions and forums, this allowa me to go through my emails in 10-20 minutes, instead of 1-2 hours

Kaye thanks for re-blogging. I deleted my promotion tab because for me, it’s not really helpful. I might have missed some of ActiveRain important emails.

I have to move AR emails to my primary tab now.

Hi Eric, I'm still working thru the quirks. I have a couple of emails that - no matter how many times I put it in social or promo, Google moves back to primary, which is frustrating. I think I still have some filters to fix, but it could be Google thinks because I do open them a lot they SHOULD be important. BUT when I'm in a hurry I do NOT want them there.

However, overall it's starting to come into shape and it does make checking my email first thing in the a.m. much faster. And later in the day I get to the rest of the tabs. So overall I do like it. I hope yours works well for you as well.

And thanks for the email. I appreciated the info. Have a grand week!

Kaye great reblog. I'm still not happy with the way they are "stacking" emails. It's too easy to miss one.

Thanks for sharing this information. I have noticed that some of the messages are showing up in other tabs. I have to make sure and click on each tab, or I will surely miss something. I like the idea that I can move the message to primary, and make that a permanent thing for future messages.

Thanks Bill and Cindi

Thanks John

I'm still getting used to it Troy. I definitely check each tab at least once a day - sometimes more. AND I'm getting better at doublechecking my spam folder as well. It's rarer, but I still find REAL mail mixed with the spam occasionally.
