The 2014 ChocolateFest in Portland Oregon . . . The Non-Caloric Version
Beaverton Central MAX Station at The Round
Saturday was a beautiful day in the Portland Metro area. The 2014 ChocolateFest was underway, and since I missed last year's yumminess, I decided to go.
What a blast!
The MAX was caught at the Beaverton Central station, and was $2.50 for the round-trip. I hopped off right across the street from the Convention Center and began my ChocolateFest 2014.
Samples, samples and more . . . I had: truffles, toffee, ganache . . . dark, raw, and milk chocolates . . . there seemed to be a theme of Lavender laced chocolates, as well as chocolates and chili infused confections.
As I strolled around with my hand out, I was my own "judge" of the event. I had $5.00 to spend on ONE treat. Similar to a gambler setting their own time limit and budget at the one-armed bandit, I pledged to Cacao that I would not over-indulge.
The toffees were amazing . . . the wines and spirits a nice way to clear the palate, and who knew that dark chocolate and wine went so well together?
At the end of my ChocolateFest my choices were:
- A huge stick preztel that was rolled in carmel, rolled in chocolate, rolled in nuts, rolled in chocolate, then rolled in nuts again
- A chocolate ganache spread that was delicious with the apple slice pairing
- A Cupcake from CupCake Jones in the Pearl (you'll see the two Mrs. Jones' in the video)
My pick was the Smokey Blue Cheese Truffle Spread from Lille Belle Farms.
An Honorable Mention to Rose City Sweets. Their display was marvelous and the confections delicious!
