The dream to starting, buying a Maine farm. How long have your been carrying it around in your head and heart?

It's more than pulling, putting a long piece of hay in your mouth, wearing overalls and getting a welcome to maine sign photofarmer's tan riding on an antique tractor in the back forty.

So what is involved starting, buying a Maine farm?

No one lazy need apply and it is all about the timing to jump in with both feet on a Maine farm.

But doing your home work, marketing plan, eyeballing resources.

Making sure the family around you is ready to heave ho, pitch in for this new idea of starting, buying a Maine farm.

Not so many years ago, most of us lived on small, self sufficient family farms.

In Maine, all over the World. Before Wally World, Interstates, and when pretty much most peoplemaine farm photo lived in small towns, villages, tiny burgs.

Not concrete urban jungles of cloverleafs and high crime, light, noise and other kinds of pollution too.

More space, greater awareness of the wild, wide open outdoors on a Maine farm.

Nature, wildlife, your own skills that get developed.

That have been dormant and unused until tapped, mined.

You find your self repairing the grain combine, corn planter, barb wire fencing.

Helping the vet and a first time Maine farm mother calf.

Collecting eggs, the double yolk orange centered ones from happy hens.Bawk bawk bawk.

Same to you ma'am.

Slurping ice cold milk you know where it came from, take care of the supplier very well. She's pretty special in black and white, large expressive brown eyes. See her, spend time with her daily. That wholesome milk, there is none fresher available when you live on a Maine farm. Not stored in plastic or paper containers either.

Or picture you. Holding a welding rod stick, lowering the smoke dark glass head gear to protect your peepers maine farm land photoas you lay down a bead.

Reinforcing or repairing an iron break. No money or time to hire out the repair service.

You are up. Go get 'em.

Or wielding the acetylene cutting torch, using the business end of a hammer or crow bar to make needed repairs yourself on your building collection.

Farming, Maine, You.

Are your ready to kick some tires of what is out there for just Maine land?

To build a barn, house, auxillarybuildings one by one slowly. With a pay as you go philosophy to avoid head over heels debt? Being mortgaged to the hilt?

For spreads that have already have buildings, homes, property acreage Maine farm properties. Better fit, match considering what you bring to the farming in Maine table to chew on, consider?

How often do you do it? I do it at least three times a day. Eating, and grateful for something to re-fuel. Especially grown close to home food produced in my neat area of Maine. No farmer, no food makes you think how important something good to eat, put on your family table is. Serious stuff. Reach out, connect, call, click or send a smoke signal when you are ready to begin the starting, buying a Maine farm adventure.

Andrew your series on Maine is very interesting. I am enjoying reading about a place called Maine that I have fond memories of visiting as a kid and would love to explore again.

I love the photo of the old rusty truck, barn and horse.  It would make an awesome painting!
