We are having a freezing cold winter in Baltimore!
Well, as of 9am today, our temperature is 10 degrees, but the windchill is MINUS 4.
This is the second "polar vortex" we've had in as many weeks.
Here in Baltimore, the Mid-Atlantic, we are used to having some snow, but it usually melts in a few days, because we will have a "warm snap" in the 40's.
Now? We had snow over a week ago, and we can still go sledding on it today!
There are numerous reports of frozen and burst pipes. If you have pipes on your outside wall, try to leave a faucet dripping to try to keep it from freezing. Also, a hairdryer can help to unfreeze a pipe, as well as a space heater. Just be very careful in either situation.
As we handle this cold, the south is under a Winter Storm Warning. Though the Mid-Atlantic tends to get a few of these each year, the south rarely has them, and certainly does not have the means to handle large amounts of snow or ice.
Please be careful out there! Stay warm!
