Before I was injured I ordered and received an Olympus 24 time digital zoom camera. I was excited, and eager to use the new camera to take and have close up pictures. So once I found the camera in my new old home I was ready. I read the directions, charged the camera and tried to take close ups. There was a problem however, for as soon as I zoomed in on a subject I had about three seconds before the screen faded to black. I read the directions at least ten more times and even called Olympus, all to no avail. The digital camera I had, a Sony Cyber Shot, has a view finder and is easy to use. My new camera doesn't have a view finder so just getting use to focusing on a screen is a job, and it takes more than three seconds to find and focus on a subject. I am going on a trip in April and I can't take a camera I can't use. Technology is terrific but when it isn't user friendly, it is worthless.
I always say technology is great when it works and a real **** when it doesn't.
Sheila- I agree... when it works for you, it's the best thing since sliced bread. And when it doesn't... not even going there.
Sheila....it's just like house hunting....when you buy an item as specialized as a camera, one needs to have a person who is well versed in photography with you for guidance.... just like hiring a buyers' agent...or listing with a real estate agent who markets homes....
Good afternoon friends and thank you for stopping by and leaving your comments and offering your support: I really appreciate it.
Hello John. I don't know what the ******* are but I will guess. I am so annoyed I can't make it better. It shouldn't be this tough. I want to throw this camera out the window. Thanks for getting it.
Hi Kathy. I should have known but I wanted more and it was just so appealing. This camera would have cost a fortune a couple of years ago but was reasonable when I got it. I should have known better.'
Hello Barbara. I hate to admit it, but you are exactly right and I blew it looking at the device as a better alternative and a bargain. It won't happen again. Thanks for the advice.
There is a message here....if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

Sheila, I don't know the answer to your problem but maybe there is someone in your area who can help? Do you have a photography club or something like that? I prefer cameras with view finders myself, the smaller digitals don't have them anymore unless you want to get a much more expensive model.
Hi Silvia. Thank you for your suggestions. I will look into a club and see if I can get help. Have a good evening. Sheila
Ease of use is critical. I hate it when I buy something and can't figure it out.
AMEN! I can finally comment on posts but it took a full 24 hours of unloading updates and two trips to the computer guys to get this up and going. Can't find the Explorer icon however. Back to the shop today.
