Awful Easy To Stay Focused On Just The Local Real Estate Market, But -

The local real estate market, you know it like the back of your hand and are on top of the pulse today.

But outside your little world, knowing and study of other real estate markets could affect your maine farm horse photoown.

For example, I have always known Aroostook County Maine land is way way under priced, undervalued and one great deal.

We are a sleeping giant of wide open acreage, raw land.

Farming in northern Maine is a big part of our history, agricultural heritage way of life too.

If I hit the megabucks, lotto, received all those large inheritance checks from Nairobi, other African nations.

The ones that I keep waiting on that email us constantly. When they arrive I would buy Maine land. Not a couple acres, but whole townships.

As much as possible. Especially farm land. They stopped making it some time ago remember?

Unorganized Township this, Range that where your population is four legged, furry, don't talk much and are pretty shy.

That is where I would want one large cookie jar of Maine land. No people. The animals keep to themselves. Big parcels that have entire lakes, ponds, long tracks of river, stream, brook frontages in them. Just to sit on them and wait. Holding, visiting, walking, enjoying the Maine land. The peace and quiet. Because land is a premium in most places. Especially good rich fertile farm ground. Cities have eaten it up in development, highways, malls, house lots.

Large tracts of Maine land, space, unspoiled four season nature.

maine farm dream photoNot just your garden variety 542 acres of Maine land property listings either.

542 acres converts to almost 220 hectares.

Here is the conversion link which we use for European land buyers who operate on metric land size measure for acres to hectares.

Did you know East German land is being gobbled up by foreign investors?

Farm land values have increased between 2009 and 2012 close to 80% in places.

And the farm land in German being bought up is not by folks with agricultural experience. But with farm land no matter where it is, if the price to buy it, pay taxes on it gets too high, then guess what? Increased food costs or if the the overhead to stay in the area farming gets too tough to carry, to buy and pay for the farm land then rut rho happens. Those turn the screws tighter increases amount to the end of farming. Shut off the tractor. Close the barn door. Round up the chickens to put in the pickup for a road trip with not return planned. No farmer, no food happens.maine horse farm photo

Where I live in Aroostook County, prime farm ground in appreciable amounts can cost $1000 an acre.

And I have been told by area farmers the same acre or hectar equivalent sized plot of land in New Brunswick Canada.

Just a couple miles to the east of me because of living in a Maine border town  can cost $4,000 and $5,000 per same amount of dirt, square footage.

Food is the ultimate weapon and whoever controls it controls us.

Food just happening, showing up, eating is a pretty nice event. Important ritual, habit at least three times a day if you are lucky. Support local farming, close to home food production that you know where it came from and what you are putting on the family table.

Ever thought of buying, owning, running a Maine farm?

Andrew, the land that my house sits on was occupied by buffalo eight years ago. If I bought farm land, I would want to keep it that way. Unfortunately, that's not the way to make money.

Doing a market report here is quite complicated and extensive with our more remote and rural population.

Tammie ... Put that dirt to work... raising grain, beef, it out to a farmer.

Judi ... Amen. The urban centers wonder how come we don't have comps all from the same'am only 80 people in that "town" and only so many sales, comps listings.

Home Ownership is w/in Reach. We Make it Happen!

Hi Andrew: All the while I thought I was the only one waiting for that big bucks from a friend or unknown acquaintance in Nigeria.. (we are expecting different source).

In the Philippines, we use metric system too. We measure house size by square meters and land, by hectares.

Your description of Maine land is like paradise.... unadulterated, unmolested farm land where horses, cows and goats roam freely to an endless territory within your territory.
