Twitter Class Success Story

TwitterLaura, the owner of Peacock Virtual Solutions, and I have been giving free Social Media Marketing classes in Spokane to local businesses and Real Estate Agents for quite a while now.

We recently were asked by a local mortgage company to put together a series of classes to conduct at their office. The idea being that each of the mortgage consultants could invite the Realtors they work with to these classes to learn the intricacies of marketing themselves on each of the social media platforms.

The classes kicked off 2 weeks ago and we had a packed room. I just found out yesterday that one of the attendees has already gotten her first client due to her Twitter use. This agent initially joined Twitter in 2009 but didn't get it and didn't see the benefit of using it so she stopped. When her friend at the mortgage company told her about the class, she decided to come listen to what we had to say.

Since the class 2 weeks ago, she has been more active aon Twitter and been using a lot of the ideas we discussed regarding how to build your followers and how to effectively engage your audience on Twitter.

So the result was that she was able to put herself in front of someone she would never have otherwise met. That person tweeted her and asked for a meeting and subsequently hired this agent.

This seems to prove my point that Social Media, especially Twitter, should be a crucial aspect of every Real Estate Agent's marketing strategy. So 1 hour and 30 minutes (an hour for the class and about 30 minutes total time spent tweeting), $0, 0 mileage, a free lunch was all that it took to gain a new client..... Point seems proven to me....

Great idea to use the alliances of mortgage companies and real estate agents to teach social media and gain more clients.
