Should I do a Short Sale on my home?

This is probably the toughest decision you ever have to make. You are worried, you do not know what to do, you have hoped that the situation will somehow change but it didn't. You are scared because you do not know what to do and what to expect....... All these thoughts are going through your mind right now and it feels like you are constantly carrying a 50 pound bag around with you.

You are upside down on your house or condo, your partner has lost his job and no new employment in sight? You have exhausted your savings and maxed out the credit cards to make payments? There is a lot of helpful information on various websites. To gather all this information and to make sense out of it, might be a bit overwhelming. The first rule in a Short Sale situation  is "don't get frustrated"

Same rule applies for dealing with your bank. Perhaps you already reached out to your bank and applied for a loan modification.  If you don’t qualify, let them know that you can’t make the mortgage payment any longer on your home or condo and that you have to sell the house and it looks like a Short Sale.

The Lenders will tell you, to hire a Short Sale Realtor, in order to list the home as soon as possible. It is really important, to select the right Agent. Someone, who will be straight forward with you, and has knowledge of the Short Sale process

Anne, that testimonial spoke VOLUMES. This whole process is SO painful! I think the way that you approach it is honest, forthright and you don't hold back on saying that it will be difficult, BUT they have someone who will hold their hands and teach them through the whole process.

Very nice post.  Our Team also does short sales to help clients.  For the last 5 years we have helped over a 100 clients get the results they desire.  It is very true that you need to carefully select your Realtor.  Not all Realtors can and do short sales or do them sucesfully.

If a homeowner does decide that a short sale is the way to go, the first thing they need to do is hire a short sale agent to ensure that the process goes through to completion. Without the experience so much can fall through the cracks.
