What is with the dryer vent? Home inspections in Hobbs New Mexico

What is with all the dryer vents that are in disrepair?

The vital importance of these vents and or hoods and the ducting to the hoods is taken way too lightly when home owners are in their homes.

I think that most of the issues is an out of site out of mind kinda thing.

This is why getting a "Home Maintenance inspection" for your home. Even if you are not planning on selling your home, this needs to be done.

Did you know that dryer vents and the ducting is a cause for home fires? And a lot of them happen each and every year.

Here is what I find when inspecting homes. All of these could have been the cause for a fire in that home.

Mis alighned vent hood. Lint filled. This hood ha the entire hood missing. Plus the interior of the ducting was packed with lint.

This could have been a fire.

Crooked vent hood and a lot of lint. You can clearly see this vent has issues. The hood is not even attached to the home. The flapper will not operate properly. This will allow rodents and insects to enter the home through the open vent.

Rat's nest in vent hood. Here we have a rats nest inside the vent hood. They want to stay warm too. But let's not give them the chance to enter the home to stay warm.

In Many cases these are an easy fix. But the home owners need to know the issue exists in the first place. "Home maintenance inspection" would do just that.

I'm going to call someone (will let you know when I figure out who). You are trying to evict a poor helpless family out of their home without proper notification and due course of law. The rats are as you said just trying to stay warm. I would find them another place to stay before I moved them out

For some reason the "Venting" in the part of the counrty is never correct. From dryer vents to the proper amount of venting for the attic and crawl spaces.
