A BirthDay In The Life of A Realtor
The day started off with sleeping late and then coffee in bed compliments of my special husband. Our youngest daugher arranged a beautiful bouquet of pink roses for me and then surprised me with a really cool gift - my very own STAR! Yes folks, there is a star named after me in the constellation Aquarius! How cool is that!! It comes complete with a certificate and a website that I can go to and locate where my star is in the heavens.
We were anticipating a client arriving in town from Florida. She closed on her new home here last week and drove up overnight following the moving van with all her worldly possessions. While this should have been an event that we didn’t need to be involved in, alas that was not to happen. Remember all that snow that literally shut down Atlanta last Tuesday leaving motorists stranded on the highways overnight? Well we got it here too although we never made the news. You see, when the weatherman says snow is coming and you look outside and it LOOKS like it’s about to snow - we stay home. Plain and simple.
With the road to her new home covered in ice and snow there was no way the moving van could 
get there. Knowing she knew no one here - we jumped in to action! We called and arranged for a couple of storage units for a few days and stayed with her while the movers unloaded her stuff. We called a local moving company to arrange to move her out of storage when the road clears. Found a hotel nearby and convinced the owner that her 8 lb poodle would be on her best behaviour. Took her out to the house in a 4WD and slipped and slid our way to her new house. Showed her how to light her gaslog fireplace and made sure the well pump was on and arranged to have the carpets cleaned and the house wiped down tomorrow.
All this and we made it to my Mom’s for birthday dinner with 5 minutes to spare!
Would I have spent my birthday any other way - probably not. We love our clients and what we do. It’s just who we are.
