Peyton Manning's First Play Mishap

Sitting here watching the Super Bowl and following the comments on Facebook.  The Denver fans are bored and ready to change the channel and, although the Seahawk fans are loving the score, they wish it was more of a challenge. Somehow all this gets me thinking . . . .

It’s the third quarter and the Seattle Seahawks have 36 points on the board.  But Peyton Manning is not in the huddle whining about the fact the center snapped the ball past his head on the first play, that the “12th Man” is too loud, or that the receivers aren’t catching the ball.  No, he’s IN THE GAME, fighting.

So, what’s that got to do with me Cyndi?  Plenty.  It’s February 2nd, Peyton Manning's First Play MishapJanuary is over and 1/12th of the year is behind us. How’d you do?  If you’re one of the 97% of salespeople who DON’T set goals for yourself each year, you won’t know nor will you care.  But, if you’re one of the 3% that DID set business goals for 2014 you will know.  But will you care?

Did you do in January what you needed to in order to be on track for your annual goal?  If so - congratulations!  If not, what are you going to do?  Will you create a plan to make it up so you’re on track by the end of the Quarter or will you, like many, throw in the towel.

Did you see Peyton Manning walk off the field and quit when Manny Ramirez sailed that ball past his head in the FIRST PLAY??

Remember, you can’t WIN the game if you’re not IN the game.

PS - Congratulations SeaHawks!

Edited to add: Denver may not have won the game, but kudos to Peyton Manning for staying in there and fighting to the end.

I am still proud of the Manning Family and it just shows that one man cannot win a footbal game

Absolutely!!  I have always had a lot of respect for Archie Manning and the support he has provided both to his sons and to the sport!

Interesting game and analogy.  Surprised the game was not closer but you are right you have to keep fighting until the end.

Cindy - Thank you for stopping by!!!  Yes, when it's the Super Bowl you expect a closer score.  But, it just goes to show that can't always be at your best no matter the circumstance.  Seattle was just majorly ON tonight!

Bill & Cyndi,

Sadly, the game was a yawn, and the commercials were so so, when you think that a 30 second spot costs $4million...Your example of being in the game is a very good one. Have a great week, A

Alexandra - The commercials were totally a wash. Loved the Budweiser Parade for the soldier coming home and great to see he and his wife at the game.  Love the military support!

Great blog Cyndi.  Poor Peyton, he was beat before he started.  As for me, I am right on track, so far.  Plan to stay there.  Good luck to you.
