As a home stager, I love helping a seller by showing them easy things they can do to help sell their home. And, just as a parent isn’t supposed to have favorites, this client ranks in my top 3.
When he called, he said “I want you to be brutally honest with me. Don’t hold anything back!”
Many will say that, but he meant it. Mr. Seller was moving his young family north so he could pursue a lifelong dream and everything was waiting for him there. He was also ready to make this move quickly because he and his wife were expecting their second child very soon.
He’d been watching some of the staging shows on the cable channel but did not feel the need to impress me with his knowledge.
Instead, he’d clipped some photos of rooms that were similar to his, suggesting what he thought might work. (they would!)
As to the matter of the family dog…. he told me not to worry, he’d make sure that “Fido” was out of the house for showings, and his water and food dish were put out of sight.
There were a few cracked tiles that I pointed out and his words to me…. “I’d rather fix them than possibly lose a sale.”
I almost felt guilty for charging him for my services!
This family was every home stager’s and agent’s dream… someone who understood the importance in the condition of a property in a sale.
What did I learn? I will say that he spoiled me for future consultations! This was one of my earlier consultsand we worked together as a team.
If you treat your clients like you’re part of their team, it’s a lot easier to cross the goal line.
