TAKE A BOOK - RETURN A BOOK

Todd Bol of Hudson, Wisconsin built a model of a 1 room schoolhouse as a tribute to his mother in 2009. She was a former school teacher who loved to read. He filled the schoolhouse with books and displayed it in his front yard. It had a sign that said FREE BOOKS. He built several more after getting requests and gave them away.

When he met Rick Brooks of Madison the two saw opportunities for distributing books as well as being able to use recycled materials. Their love of books and wanting to help communities soon had them on the road to becoming a full fledged business.

By 2014 there is expected to be over 11,000 Registered Little Free Libraries all over the world. Would you like to get started with your own? Click here for info.

As an avid reader myself I just love this idea! There are many different models you can choose from and they will all hold up to any type of weather.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to read! Not sure of the longevity of these libraries but I imagine as long as it is cared for it is years and years. I know I have been swapping books with the same people for many years.
