Calvert County has some of the most beautiful, lush forest land in Southern Maryland. With over 3000 acres of forest, farmland and wetlands, the American Chestnut Land Trust (ACLT) has made it their mission to preserve this land for future generations to enjoy. They would like to show Southern Maryland residents and visitors exactly what it is that they are working to preserve. That's why they are inviting everyone to a guided Calvert County Winter Walk 2014.

At the Calvert County Winter Walk 2014, guests will enjoy a guided hike on the ACLT's North Side Trailhead. After participants meet up at the ACLT office, the guide will take you on a comfortable walk through lush landscaping to Parkers Creek. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes, follow your guide's instructions, stay on the marked trails at all times and leave the trail exactly as it was when you came upon it. That means no littering and no taking any souvenirs back to your Southern Maryland home. Smoking is strictly prohibited. We don't want to worry about burning down this beautiful land.
