The Wellington community was established in 1989 and it is a planned unit development constructed on what was once Clover Hill Farm, owned by the Johnson family. Historic photographs of the Johnson family and Civil War era artifacts found on the site are on display at the Wellington Community Center. Today, that same site is home to 1,397 member owners of Wellington Community Association, with construction completed in 2001. There are 575 single-family homes, 565 town homes, and 257 condominium units in this community. 

The Wellington Community includes a swimming and wading pool, tennis and basketball courts, and a tot lot which is available to the Wellington members.
