Tax Breaks

By
Services for Real Estate Pros

The end-of-year statements are rolling in and people are about to start their annual duty of doing their taxes.  New homeowners may not know about the available tax breaks offered to them. People who had a short sale are searching the web for answers to their tax questions.

Write a blog post about this year's tax breaks and send it off to your clients past and present.  Not only is it a great way to say hello and remind them you're still in the business but it's an extremely timely piece that is both useful and appreciated.

Here are a few examples of posts that raked in the clicks last year:
$10,000 Tax Credit Available for First Time New Home Buyers
New IRS Tax Guide Now Available
Are Origination Fees Tax Deductible?

Here are some free pictures you can download to add an image to your post.

Take the time to do this, it's going to bring in the clicks!

Take a shot at getting syndicated by Trulia by submitting your Tax Break post here. Extra exposure for you!

I think my immediate response would be talk to your CPA or tax preparer. I see no issue with passing along info or tips you might have heard.

Actually, I should send an email to all my clients who bought the home this year - with a copy of HUD. This helps, I am sure.

I would be very careful about how to write this kind of information. In North Carolina one could be accused of practicing tax law. If you do write, make sure there's always a disclaimer that tells people to consult with their tax advisor.

Thank you for posting.  And don't forget to deduct the taxes you paid on your vehicle registration each year for all vehicles...or other personal property that was taxed.

That's a good idea, people always have questions about those things and it is not a day to day issue so they tend to look on the internet

I'm planning on dropping of a copy of the settlement statement to all of my Buyer clients from last year.  It's a great excuse to get in front of them again, and will be a welcome reminder that they will have some new tax deductions this year!

Actually, these images require attribution, so you really might want to clarify that before someone gets somethemselves into trouble.
