I Wish Someone Had Told Me...

Realtors: What is one thing you wish someone would have told you when you were getting started in the business?

  • Is there something that someone could have said that would have kept you from having to learn a tough lesson the hard way?

  • Is there a tip, tactic or technique that would have saved you time and/or money?

  • Is there a warning you find yourself giving to Newbies about an element of the business you find precarious or risky?

Although you may have many suggestions, can you isolate down to one that would have made a difference in helping you ramp up and become productive / profitable?

Thanks in advance for sharing your words of wisdom. Looking forward to reading your responses to the question: "I wish someone had told me __________."

Hi Tim, thanks for your contribution. Could you elaborate a bit more on what you mean by "lead with revenue"?

Amanda, I wish some one would have told me not to do what the other agents in the office were doing.  What were they doing?  Sitting at their desk waiting for the phone to ring.  Of course, their phone rang more often than mine did since they had been in the business longer.  I didn't get that though.  You need to make the calls, not wait for them.

Tim was referring to the thing Gary Keller teaches in his book. The Millionaire Real Estate Agent.  It is don't spend money you don't have on advertising.  When you are new, you need to pick up the phone and talk to people.
