The U.S. Postal Service has announced that they will no longer be delivering mail door-to-door in new housing developments. Mail will only be delivered to centralized locations, which are a cluster of mailboxes similar to what you would find in an apartment complex or townhome community.
Why you may ask? This is all part of the U.S. Postal Service’s plan to begin saving some money. In one year, it can cost the Postal Service close to $350 for door-to-door delivery, approximately $220 for curbside service, and delivering the mail to a cluster of mailboxes costs $160.
This policy will only apply to new construction communities throughout the United States. Currently, two new high-end developments – one in Parkland and one in Boynton Beach – will both have centralized delivery instead of individual mailboxes in front of their homes.
