Today the snow is falling heavily in Colorado Springs and while this makes me want to just curl up on the couch with coffee or hot chocolate.
On the other side, the thick layer of the white snow also makes me want to go outside, and play in it. Lucky for me, there are plenty opportunities to do just that. You can take a wintry snow hike in the many in Colorado Springs’ Parks.
A special mention to these Parks:
Bear Creek Cañon
501 Bear Creek Rd. Picnicking, mountain biking/trails. 765.6 acres.
This park with its many uses also offers a great place to sled besides a pleasant winter hike.

Fox Run Regional Trail Park
Located in Black Forest. If we have a few snowflakes in the south, most likely there’ll be several inches up north. Though the Black Forest burnt this summer it is still a great place to spend time – or live up there. With only 4 miles of trails, one of the smaller parks.
Red Rock Canyon Open Space
Red Rock Canyon Open Space trail system. You can see Red Rock Canyon, heading west on Highway 24. Use this extensive trail system to frolic in the snow to your delight! Again, on the west side, but an easy zip down I25 and west on 24. If you haven’t been there go and visit! Snow or shine!
Find all Colorado Springs Trails here.
Close to Colorado Springs is Mueller State Park – if you want to venture out this might be just what you are looking for.
