Some sellers have the concept that Staging a vacant property can be 'overkill' or unnecessary expense. However, when properly done with quality pictures and a slide show; staging can make all the difference in the world. Buyers think they have the ability to imagine what the rooms would look like with furniture. But in many cases have a perception that the furniture would not fit or would be inappropriate for the desired space. Staging a home with an effective plan makes these perceptions dissipate, and can win the showing agent a sale.

Notice how the colors and spacious room sizes are projected with actual furniture appropriately placed.
In fact, staging is important enough that the St. Louis Association of Realtors is offering a continuing education course on the subject. Here's an exerpt from SLAR's notice of CE courses:
