Here in sunny Phoenix, Arizona when the temperature reaches 115 degrees in July and August, there's a real opportunity for real estate agents to explain to buyers the potential solar panels add to a house their clients maybe considering buying. Remember though, our heat is only a dry heat.
I used to live in a house that used this very technology and it was my first time doing so. I have to tell you, it turned out to be awesome, the first time I got a check from the power company for power I hadn't used but that they bought from me was like being given free money. Granted, my home was huge and had more panels than say an average 2,500 sq ft home would but you get the idea.
Most times a home that has solar panels already installed perks my ears up and I like explaining the benefits to my clients, here are some advantages of using solar energy on your home.
- Consider here in Phoenix we have over 330 days of sun a year (why wouldn't you invest in solar if you can right?) Plus most electric companies will help you subsidize it and make payments over time......HELLO!
- Saves you money on your electric bill
- You can lock in rates for years to come (imagine if you could have done that with gas when it was $1 a gallon)
- Decreases your carbon foot print
- Can actually make you money
SO HOW DOES SOLAR ENERGY AND SOLAR PANELS WORK?
Good thing you asked, and it's very easy? Roof top panels contain silicon semiconductors that absorb sunlight
- Panels convert sunlight into electrons which flow as DC current to the inverter
- DC current passes through the inverter and becomes AC current, the electricity used in your home
- Any excess produced flows to APS power grid and you get credit to your account. Because your home is connected to the grid you'll always have electricity.
So next time you see solar panels on a home your client wants to buy, definitely get a professional to inspect them and tell your clients about their huge benefits.
