Valentine’s Day, the most romantic day of the year, is this Friday. Whether you are in a new relationship, have been dating for a long time or married longer than you can remember, you can get your romance on in MoCo. When flowers and a card are not quite enough, you have many options to bring out your romantic side this weekend. No reservations are needed to get your picture taken in front of the Cuddle Up Pavilion at Glen Echo Park. One of the last vestiges of Glen Echo’s amusement park days, this can be a romantic highlight for you and your sweetheart, after a ride on the carousel of course!
Movie buffs can rejoice for the AFI Silver Theater in Silver Spring is offering a selection of romantic movies throughout the month of February. The choices are great, spanning the ages from the classic 1930 films on up to today’s romantic comedies. Enjoy a secret getaway in the dark with a romantic fantasy on film.
Seats are still available for the Valentine Jazz concert featuring Marcus Johnson & the Urban Jam Band. Held at the Strathmore in North Bethesda, you can enjoy a night of romance with music filling the air. Said to have fingers fast as a hummingbird, if you are a fan of jazz and R&B, you won’t want to miss this debut performance at the Strathmore.
For nature lovers, why not take a turn on the ice at one of MoCo’s outdoor skating rinks? What better way to show your romantic side than to glide along the ice arm and arm with your sweetheart? Both Rockville Town Square and Silver Spring Civic Center are open and ready for you to skate to your heart’s content.
Whether you have a sweetheart or not, all these wonderful events and places I have mentioned can be enjoyed with a friend most any time of the year. Kevin, This is a great list of things to do this Valentines Day in Montgomery County. I love that they are something different than going to a fancy restaurant where you might spend $250 on one meal.
