Share the Valentine’s Day Love.....even if you Hate it
What if you hate Valentine’s Day? Maybe you’ve loved and lost or you despise the commercial aspects of a forced holiday for love. The good news is that it’s only one day out of the year. You can choose to boycott the day, or you can make the whole thing into a day of good will towards others who could use a little good will. The possibilities are endless, but here are a few ideas to get started:
- Call or visit your grandparents or an elderly neighbor or nursing home resident who may be lonely. Or visit your parents, aunts, uncles, siblings, etc.
- Buddy up with a fellow Valentine’s Day hater who’d like some company.
- If you’re not in the mood for fellow humans, how about showering some love on the residents of your local animal shelter?
- Donate blood — winter weather can strain supplies and your donation can save lives. Now that’s a show of love.
- Investigate local charities and find one who could use your help.
- Perform a random act of kindness — it’s one of the best mood-lifters there is. It doesn’t have to be anything extraordinary and you can even do it anonymously.
