Time to Start Loving the Polar Vortex, It's Great for Business.

Not only are our friends in the southern states getting a taste of that lovely white stuff that we all enjoy so much in the north but apparently it is also great for business.

Based on an Info-graphic shared by Trulia and the folks at the KCM blog, demand for homes and vacation getaways in the south increase significantly with these little cold spikes.

Bundle up, enjoy the snow, and get ready to answer the phone, the less hardy folks from the North are coming down for a visit, and maybe even buy a second home.

Good morning Bob. No matter how cold or how much snow and we have had plenty of both and more to come, I'm not moving. I love where we live and am fortunate, when I need a break from it, I can hop a plan and be on the beach in a few hours.

Make it a great weekend!

Bob, you are right.  I just responded to one of the Florida Realtors blogs.  I am not sure I want to be there all year round because I enjoy a change in seasons but it would be a nice retreat now.  Always wanted a retreat in a warmer climate.

I am certain that many Maryland retirees are thinking about a move to the south. The snow and ice is too much to handle when your body is aged.

Florida is the primary beneficiary of the wealth exiting Maryland. The Carolinas are also high on the list of preferred locations.

Bob, great post written with a real touch of northern humor.  Dave & I discussed the second home idea quite seriously when the Florida market crashed, but decided we love living in northern climate and will just continue to make a mid-winter get-away.

Cross country skiing is on my agenda this afternoon.  Enjoy the Wisconsin woods.

Bob, this was a very interesting post. Funny, when it snows demand picks up here - for all of the people who want second homes at the ski resorts. I can see how the people who don't ski would prefer the warmer climates.

This weather has been terrible for my biz, but I'm hoping there is lots of pent up demand for the spring.  And, I suppose a few more carpets/floors may need some help from all of this mess. - Debbie

Yep, you are right! I have heard some of my past clients talking about moving south. they have had enough. However, when I mention their high paying jobs up here compared to lower paying jobs due to the number of retiree's looking for something to supplement their income, well, they aren't so eager to move.

The polar vortex may be a business booster for our brethren in the sand states but it isn't doing anything to help those of us who are freezing our tushes off in the North...LOL.

I know that the brutal winter of 93/94 helped me to make the decision to move south, and although I miss some of the people and things from up north, I have never regretted that decision.
