
What does a Penny have to do with
Real Estate?
I had someone refer a couple to me recently but they hesitated to call and speak to me. I asked my friend why and they said it was because they thought it was going to cost them money to work with a Realtor. Meanwhile they keep missing out on homes they want.
Let me be clear.Home Buyers do not pay the real estate agent. Agents are paid by the sellers. There is no cost to you the buyer.
Word of Caution:
When you the buyer are looking to find an agent to help you purchase a home in Northern Virginia do your res each. Not all agents are the same.
"Reach out to Friends and family for a referral to an agent you can trust."
Once you find an agent research them on Google to see what they have done as far as business can you find referrals or testimonials about them?
You can call real estate signs but please know these agents represent the seller not you!
These days we have buyer agency and you will be required to sign a form before looking at any homes. This is the same no matter which agent you choose to work with it is the Law of Agency now in Virginia. This law is to protect your interest. Look at this as a good thing for you! It must be disclosed who the agent works for before going into a home.
Word of Wisdom...
It does not cost you a PENNY more to work with an experienced Realtor but it could cost you THOUSANDS
in what your final negotiated sales price and even the successful stress free closing of your next home.
You can choose to buy without representation or work with someone who does not have your interest at heart but I promise you it will cost you in stress, money and maybe even that dream home.
I don't say this to scare you I say this to educate you that homes priced right in top condition are selling fast and for top dollar all over Northern Virginia. You want someone on your side who has the experience to negotiate the best possible price with the least amount of stress in the shortest amount of time! You want someone who has strong connections to the real estate community to find the type of home you are looking for.
