DO YOU LICKITY SPLIT? (mature post)

By

I am talking about people who lick their fingers to separate paperwork, money, receipts and credit slips and just about anything that is sticking together. Why do they do this? SIMPLE. Because the moisture that is applied gives it a better grip & feel...HOWEVER

THE SOURCE TURNS ME OFF

I take issue with your source of moisture. I don't want your personal water source on anything that belongs to me or that you are giving back to me. I have seen people do it so non-chalantly that if you don't watch, you missed them licking their fingers as they maneuver. These are pros

USE THE STANDARD SYSTEMS

They have counting/coating wax and water in dishes with sponges to wet the finger tips so that they can apply this simple scientific technique to accomplish the point. People who count money or paperwork should use the wax and people who seal envelopes or postage stamps use the sponge

RELATED SUBJECT MATTER

If I am out in public and see a server of food sneeze into their hands, or use a hand to quiet a cough or wipe some sweat or other area, my appetite is interfered with guaranteed. I watch carefully to see if they wash up and if not I speak up. That aint my order if you did this

WASH OR WEAR GLOVES

It is long been known that people handle food and money should NOT be the same person because money is dirty! I don't know any other way to put it! Its filthy. Now, the guy ahead of me hands you a $20, you then count back his change and then go to prepare my food? I brought this up one time and was told we are short handed. Kiss of death being practiced here?

I don't want paperwork with saliva on it either. Receipts, copies, merchandise in general etc...

DOCTORS GET READY CORRECTLY

Who hasn't seen in a movie, TV or real life Doctors scrubbing up before a surgery. They clean themselves from elbow to finger tips and then are assisted after that with drying and the putting on of gloves, masks and gowns. I am sure the ones helping them have washed up and done the same thing and I wonder if someone did it to them as well...We all can improve here

SHOULD YOU SAY SOMETHING?

It is embarrassing to speak up when you see this being done because it is a show-stopper for all. But then if you don't, well you deserve what happens after that via acceptance. The touching of people and things has long been established to be a freeway that virus, bacteria, and disease travel on and use to reproduce their kind.

Stop that lick-en...your making me sick-en

I don't like the thought of spit on my papers either. I don't do it so I never think about others doing it

Too funny. I admit there are times (when not around a source of water) I have done this as most every person alive has too. I also agree its not the cleanest form of opening upanything lol

Richie, that's a great point. The idea of everyone touching money is one I don't usually ponder...Thanks for reminding us.

Very interesting post!   I agree and can't help think of the Seinfeld episode where the restaurant owner and chef - doesn't wash his hands after using the potty.

Richie- and now we have wipes as you enter the grocery store to use on your carts and hands, and I've noticed that each cashier has hand gel as well.  I've seen people in the DOT line use their own pen to sign a paper for fear of germs.  That's the way it is, I suppose.

Good morning Richie, I know what you mean.  I was in the restaurant business years ago. I have a habit of watching the workers when I go to a restaurant now.  It is appalling to see some of their habits. One waitress had her hair down in her face, an all through order taking, she kept pushing her hair back with her hands.  That was the last time I ate there.  How many times have you been eating your food and found a hair in it.

Hello Kathy...those are good observations and points made. Epidemics respect no one

Hello Larry...we share the restaurant background. I used to wash my hands all day long. The training today is lacking and serving food is pretty personal

Hi Richie - having worked in the food industry, sometimes the gloves are even worse. People think that since they are wearing gloves they don;t have to think about what their hands touch. If you cough, sneeze touch your body in any area you should be changing your gloves too.

Hello Jeff...my friend it may be a nusiance to do but it is a good habit to acquire if one wants to hit the customer service heights and treat people right. I must have washed my hands at least 30 times a day when I manage restaurants. When I remodled one, I had a sink put in the server station so they could do it too...

I once saw a guy cough into his hand and then pick up the hamburger bun for the burger he was preparing.  It was at a kids' sporting event at the snack shack run by the parents.  As soon as I saw it, I left the line...no thank you!

I've shared your post on facebook....I don't think I've ever shared an AR post (other than my own) on facebook.
