Patience is a virtue,
Possess it if you can.
Seldom found in woman,
Never found in man.
I believe I am a very patient person. You have to be when you work with people. My job history is littered with positions that were dependent on good communication and relations with the public: dance teacher, dollar store cashier, SUNY at Buffalo information center concierge, collector and support specialist at a collections agency. The public demands patience, even if they don’t have any.
Especially if they don’t have any.
In my experience, I have found that the role of educator must be the most patient. Trying to get one message understood to many different people can be a challenge, especially if it’s a complex one. People learn at different speeds and ways. If you don’t have the ability or desire to modify how you get the message out, you’re going to lose the crowd.
Being a Realtor® is a lot like being a teacher. We educate our clients and the general public (when they listen) about the market ups & downs, how and why they should be pre-approved for a mortgage before looking at homes and help sellers present their home in the best light possible. Getting to know my clients is very important to me. If I sense that they are not understanding something I try to present it in a different way. Visuals usually do the trick ;)
