My Pictures of Washington D.C and The History of President's Day
Presidents’ Day is a US national holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February. This date was originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington and is still officially called “Washington’s Birthday” by the federal government.
Traditionally celebrated on February 22—Washington’s actual day of birth—the holiday became popularly known as Presidents’ Day after it was moved as part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers. Many states still celebrate the birthdays of Washington, Abraham Lincoln and others, Presidents’ Day is now seen as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents past and present.Washington D.C. is an amazing place to visit.
Unfortunately a big rainstorm showed up so there are not very many pictures of the fantastic historical buildings. Next visit! So if you get a chance to go there, take some pictures and go on some tours and you will be amazed.
