Inspection reveals old newsprint in cabinet, take a look!

This photo taken during an inspection of a home I have in escrow in Newport, Oregon, on the Central Oregon Coast near Agate Beach. There was a cabinet that was painted shut, inspector asked me if I could gently pry it open to see if we could find electrical box.

What I found was much more interesting!! Home was built in 1955.  A crusty old cabinet which looked like it may have once held Ball jars full of homemade jellies had old newsprint underneath the linoleum flooring lining the shelves. I took a photo with spiderwebs intact for your viewing pleasure. I think it is truly a work of art.

Enjoy!

Hi Debbie! This photo was unusual because most of the homes in Newport have been remodeled, built in the 1970's.

Thanks for your comment :)

Hi Barbara - first, nice to "see" you here.  I like stories like this where discoveries like this are made.  Very cool photo.

One of my fraternity brothers was an architect student. He was very creative. He once decorated an entire room in old newspaper clippings....like wallpaper.  Made for an interesting read!

Barbara, older homes often tell us about the people who lived there. This find was very interesting.

Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.

I love finding things like this in older homes!  I once discovered some retro 70's wallpaper behind many layers of paint in a kitchen that I was remodelling.  I like you just had to snap a picture.  As ugly as it was it was part of the history of the home.  My wallpaper find wasn't quite a cool as your newspapers but it tells a story just the same.
