Central Park in Murphy TX is scheduled for its grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, April 5, 2014.
The grand opening will take place in conjunction with Experience Murphy - the first annual spring event for Murphy. Ribbon cutting is set to take place between 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm following the community improvement initiatives.
Some features of the park are an amphitheater/stage, restrooms/concession stands, a spray park, a playground, a pavilion, a pond (catch and release fishing is anticipated), a nature trail as well as a concrete hike and bike trail. Future development plans include lighted sports fields and tennis courts. The park is adjacent to the recently opened PSA Murphy, a part of the Plano Sports Authority.
Within the city of Murphy Central Park is located between the municipal buildings and Murphy Middle school. As an avid patron of the parks I am eagerly anticipating the grand opening. It has been on the city's agenda more than enough. The photo of the park above was taken from the parking area of Murphy PSA. The park grounds are closed to the public presently. In driving around the area it is evident that there is still work to be done to meet the dateline for Experience Murphy.
It will be a great day for all the residents of Murphy TX with an opportunity to come out and celebrate the culture of Murphy. There will be international foods to enjoy. A cultural talent show will be on stage featuring local dance and performance groups at the new amphitheater/stage. There will also be a stroll through Murphy's history with different stations covering information on Murphy's history as well as its future.
Experience Murphy will start at 9:00 am with the community improvement initiatives. The city of Murphy Green Team will host the Don't Mess with Texas Trash Off event until 12:00 noon. Volunteers will be helping to clean up the public areas of Murphy including the park and cemetery areas. After the clean-up volunteers are invited to return to Central Park Murphy to enjoy the food and festivities. A concert is planned to close the event between 6 and 8 pm.
Come on by; I'll be the overly elated one in the park. If you enjoyed reading my blog please subscribe and follow the happenings in Murphy or Plano area.
