Have you seen the send to menu in XP Pro? This is the right click button that shows you the applications you can use to "Send an Item to". The list is usually "compressed folder (zipped)", "mail recepiant", "desktop", and "my documents". But this menu can be changed to include some extra items. This is how. Go to "Start" then "Run", in the little dialog box type in "sendto" this will open a folder containing the list of "send to" items. You can add shortcuts to your most used applications to increase your computer use effeciency.
My favorite to add to this list is notepad, but you might want to add "Word" and/or "Excel", or internet explorer.
This menu does not change based on the file extension, like the "Open With" context menu, so you can always open a file with your favorite program.
