...and #6 of Top Ten in the State
Movoto Blog ranked Enterprise as one the Top Cities in the state. The only city South of Auburn (ranked #1 in the State, and NOT just in football - Warrrrr Eagle!).

They used the following seven things, subdivided into a total of 13 checkpoints.
- Total Amenities
- Quality of Life (cost of living, median home price, median rent, median household income, teacher per student ratio)
- Total Crimes
- Tax Rates (sales tax, income tax)
- Unemployment
- Commute Time
- Weather (temperature, air quality)
Mayor Kenneth Boswell said:
“This literally speaks volumes for our community and citizens that live here. With us being ranked No. 11 in the state in business friendly, it means that our citizens play a major role. This is an absolute honor.”

This is the Statue to the Boll Weevil, which is a story for another post.
The top 10 cities:
- Auburn
- Madison
- Pelham
- Florence
- Calera
- Enterprise
- Chelsea
- Mountain Brook
- Albertville
- Alabaster
Low unemployment rate of 6.2 percent, short average commute time of 20 minutes (a large portion to Ft. Rucker, THE Major "Industry" here), and low sales tax (8 percent) helped Enterprise to earn it's high ranking. It’s low cost of living makes it the 3rd most affordable city among the top 10.
While Auburn’s cost of living was high (primarily due to the location of Auburn University there), its low commute time, low sales tax and high number of amenities pushed it to the top.
The next highest-ranking town in south Alabama was Spanish Fort, which came in at No. 11.
I was stationed at Ft. Rucker in the early 70's, liked the town and the closeness, but not too close, to Montgomery where my family was living.
