ActiveRain was originally a contact management and lead follow up system for our real estate company. Prior to launching the ActiveRain you know and love today, we had a real estate company that primarily operated out of the state of Washington. Our real estate company generated a lot of leads. At our peak we were generating over 200 leads a day in the state.
We needed something to manage that volume of leads. So we built our own lead management system, we called it ActiveRain (it was hosted at activerain.net back then).
Over those first few years, we'd add all kinds of cool (for then) features like drip marketing campaigns, automated property alerts and eventually a transaction management piece. We were going to conquer the world! (Or at least online transaction management). The goal was to have every agent using ActiveRain to manage their transactions.
We failed (at transaction management)!. We just were never able to get large scale adoption. I like to think we were ahead of our time (that's what you tell yourself when you fail at something, haha). Out of this failure came the ActiveRain you know today.
As I look around the CRM landscape today, I see many of the same core elements present that we were building back in the early 00's. And a ton more cool features!
