This past weekend I was privileged to attend the Graduation of these fine kids. They have been together since 8th grade and have all achieved at least the Bronze Congressional Medal for Youth. While this is an individual achievement, as members of the National Leadership Council sponsored by Adventure Unlimited (a camp in Colorado), they have supported each other and had group trips to accomplish the big requirements.
If you've followed me for any length of time, part of this was my son's trip to Peru a couple years ago. Other trips involved solo camping in the mountains, river rafting and hiking and a camp experience. The individual goals were personal development, physical development and to achieve the Gold Medal, 400 hours of community service.
I'm proud to say that my son, Connor, has now submitted all the requirements for the Gold Medal and was awarded the Bronze and Silver Medals a couple weeks ago by our Congressman. In June, we will travel to DC for the Gold Medal National Ceremony.
Connor is in the front row in a black shirt in the picture.
This past weekend, the parents were hosted at the camp for the graduation. These kids are headed out to the best colleges in the country and have made lifelong friendships. So proud of them all.
